CDQ Secures Dismissal of Defamation and False Light Claims

In May 2020, Dan Quigley, Betsy Lamm and Cole Kubosumi secured dismissal of defamation, false light, and deprivation of due process claims against CDQ’s client.  In a lengthy ruling, the Honorable Theodore Campagnolo of Maricopa County Superior Court agreed with CDQ that the plaintiff, a former legislator, could not state viable claims for defamation or false light against CDQ’s client.  Judge Campagnolo further agreed with CDQ’s analysis that the political question doctrine barred plaintiff’s novel due process claim.
