Court of Appeals Affirms Multi-Million Dollar Award For CDQ’s Clients
On June 9, 2020, the Arizona Court of Appeals affirmed the Superior Court’s judgment awarding of $1.9 million in damages and $1.6 million in attorneys’ fees to CDQ’s clients. The Court rejected every argument made by the appellant, agreeing with CDQ that the jury’s general verdict could not be overturned based on a challenge to only one potential basis, that treble damages were properly awarded under Arizona’s wage statutes, and that the attorneys’ fee award was justified under the circumstances. The ruling was a substantial victory for CDQ’s clients, individuals who have been in litigation with their former employer for nearly five years. The trial and appellate teams included Dan Quigley, Cindy Albracht-Crogan, Rebecca van Doren, and Kevin Moyer. The Court of Appeals’ memorandum decision is available here.
